Bee CAUTIOUS

The Stimuli

I keep seeing news on various scams like the ones listed above. I keep sharing such news with my friends to caution. Fraudsters invent new ways each day to scam innocent people. While doing my Google UX Design Professional Certificate, I picked up my own challenge of designing for social good, where I came up with design for an app to help people overcome stress. I also wanted to design another website for social good and thought of compiling the news on scams, to help people be cautious.

I also have seen a few friends losing their lives on rough sea waves, falling head on slippery rock, underestimating the risks and not taking enough precautions.

Bee CAUTIOUS aims to caution people on scams, frauds and risks. I took a progressive enhancement approach, starting with a minimum viable product (MVP) that displays financial scams and then gradually adding other risks people encounter and how to be cautious.

The Title

I had compiled news on scams, in an online document with the title “Scams & Frauds.” The title “Scams & Frauds” was easily understandable but was not unique and was limited to just scams. So I thought of a few names like “Scam Alert,” “Be alert”…etc. To make the name slightly unique, shortlisted “Bee Cautious.” Bees are associated with the sweet honey, but when stung, can cause intense pain, same like how fraudsters lure people with sweet talks, ultimately trapping them into financial scams.

The Logo

At leisure & for fun, I had ideated a few  logos on paper, but have never designed one digitally. Have plans to learn the basics of Photoshop or Illustrator. But for now, using my learning on Figma, designed this logo. My approach to design was seeing samples of bee images of various shapes, and finally squared on creating a bee using hexagon shapes, which resembles a beehive. Took inspiration for the colours after glancing at a few anti-virus websites.

The Design

To start with, I wanted to list the recent financial scams that I come across on news. Taking a progressive enhancement approach, as I progress, I wanted to add designs on how to be cautious of various other risks.
