Hello, I m Ashok Prabhu 🙂
Welcome to my blog & learning portfolio.
I’m passionate about User Experience & Design. After helping companies ship great quality products, as a software tester, I’m looking forward to transition my career in the field of User Experience. I’m constantly learning UX, Psychology, Behavioural Science, Storytelling and working hard to specialize as a UX Researcher.
Why UX? I find it exciting to simplify products I use often, by coming up with protypes and improvements to designs and while doing these, I experience a state of flow, completely absorbed and enjoying the task. I love to study the intricacies of human interactions, empathise with people and solve problems. New ideas and designs, to make things simpler and people happy, excites me. I admire designs that are elegant and vibrant. You can only imagine my excitement when a few of my ideas got implemented in products owned by Big Techs. I feel, I can contribute for a better world and be more productive as a UX Researcher.

Happy to share my cultural story. Born in an agricultural family, I have had a very humble beginning and spent my childhood in a village near Gobichettipalayam in Tamil Nadu, India. We speak Tamil and the customary attire for us are the Pudavai, Veshti, and Sattai. We eat rice-based foods. The breakfast most farmers in our locality had was predominantly the Palaya Soru (fermented rice from the previous days left over) and occasionally Upma, Idli or Dosai. We also have a local signature dish called Ariseem Paruppu, made from rice and toor dal. The important festivals we celebrate at home are Pongal (farmers thanking the God after the harvest), Deepavali (festivals of lights, celebrating the defeating of demons) and the local village festivals. I currently reside in Chennai, India.

I studied at Sainik School, Amaravathy Nagar a fully residential military public school, from class 6 to class 12, on government scholarship and hence am a beneficiary of equity and social justice. The good education I received also created better opportunities later in life, which has been a privilege. The school is situated at Amaravathi Nagar, nestled in the western ghats, surrounded by mountains and the Amaravathi dam in the backdrop.
At leisure, I enjoy casual cycling, watching quiz shows and movies, reading business books, collecting articles of interest from newspapers and magazines and relish sipping a lot of tea.
I had a turbulent childhood. I also understand, everyone goes through problems in life. I hence chose the path of Kindness 🙂
